{"id":116,"date":"2016-10-16T21:58:43","date_gmt":"2016-10-17T02:28:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.vintage.excited-geek.com\/blog\/?p=116"},"modified":"2016-10-16T21:58:43","modified_gmt":"2016-10-17T02:28:43","slug":"php-2700-texas-instruments-program-recorder","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.vintage.excited-geek.com\/blog\/2016\/10\/16\/php-2700-texas-instruments-program-recorder\/","title":{"rendered":"PHP 2700 &#8211; Texas Instruments Program Recorder"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>My adventures with the Texas Instruments Program Recorder.<\/p>\n<p>On September 4, I found a beautiful Texas Instruments Program Recorder on eBay and bought it from MAKBONE2012.\u00a0 It was delivered on September 13 and the packaging was really well done.\u00a0\u00a0 I bought this one because the seller said it was tested and working.\u00a0 I bought a new set of Duracell &#8216;C&#8217; batteries, put them in along with a tape.\u00a0 The simplest test I could think of was\u00a0pushing the fast forward button, nothing.\u00a0 I tried the rewind button and again nothing.<\/p>\n<p>I contacted the seller and told them what happened, the response was very quick along the lines of; that&#8217;s weird, I&#8217;ll issue a refund.\u00a0 I got the whole refund right away.\u00a0 I asked what I should do with the recorder, toss it, was the reply.<\/p>\n<p>I go back to eBay and find another one, which was also said to be tested and working. \u00a0I order on September 22,\u00a0and it arrives very quickly in good shape.\u00a0 I try my simple test with the new Duracell batteries.\u00a0 Fast forward, click, nothing.\u00a0 Rewind, click nothing.\u00a0 Rats.<\/p>\n<p>I go out and buy another set of &#8216;C&#8217; batteries, this time Energizer.\u00a0 Same test, same results.\u00a0 I try them in the first recorder which I haven&#8217;t tossed yet and get the same results.<\/p>\n<p>It seems unlikely that two tape machines that were tested and working before I got them would not work.\u00a0 I&#8217;m looking them over, no\u00a0visual signs of damage.\u00a0 I do notice something I had not paid attention to.\u00a0 On both machines, they had six buttons for controls, but they also had a slide switch on top.\u00a0 One setting was Play\/Record and the other was Pause.\u00a0 Both were set to Pause.\u00a0 I moved the switch to Play\/Record and tested it.\u00a0 The machine quietly starts to fast forward, I push stop and try a rewind, resulting in it quietly rewinding.<\/p>\n<p>I grab the other set of batteries and put them in the first player, move that switch and away it goes.<\/p>\n<p>Now for the hard part.\u00a0 I had this first player from MAKBONE2012, that works.\u00a0 I can&#8217;t keep it and the money, so I contact him through eBay, let him know what a dummy I am and issue a refund back to him.<\/p>\n<p>Now I have two program recorders and in my searches, I found several people selling cables for using two recorders with the TI.\u00a0 I ordered one, which came in right away and am now set up to use them both.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>My adventures with the Texas Instruments Program Recorder.
