{"id":285,"date":"2018-05-05T19:01:40","date_gmt":"2018-05-05T23:31:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.vintage.excited-geek.com\/blog\/?p=285"},"modified":"2018-05-05T19:01:40","modified_gmt":"2018-05-05T23:31:40","slug":"raspberry-pi-3-b","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.vintage.excited-geek.com\/blog\/2018\/05\/05\/raspberry-pi-3-b\/","title":{"rendered":"Raspberry Pi 3 B+"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Not vintage, by any stretch of imagination, but I have been fascinated by the Raspberry Pi since they came out.<\/p>\n<p>Last month,\u00a0I ordered one, specifically I bought the newest Raspberry Pi, the 3 B+.<\/p>\n<p>The package I ordered had the Pi,\u00a0heat sink, the smoke\u00a0case with the clear top, power supply and 8 GB micro SD card with NOOBS from Adafruit.<\/p>\n<p>They shipped it right out and I got it in a few days.\u00a0\u00a0Arriving\u00a0in the afternoon, I spent about two hours trying to get the Pi board into the very pretty case.\u00a0 It wasn&#8217;t going to go in more than\u00a0about three quarters of the way\u00a0and it just would not snap in.\u00a0 I set the case aside and tried to run it with out the case.\u00a0 I got it all set up with a TV and plugged in the power for a very pretty rainbow screen with a lighting bolt off to the side.<\/p>\n<p>A quick look on the internet shows that this might mean I need a newer OS than came on the SD card.<\/p>\n<p>I went out and got another micro SD card and following the instructions on the Raspberry Pi downloads page (https:\/\/www.raspberrypi.org\/downloads\/) downloaded the latest NOOBS image and put it on the new SD card.\u00a0 This one booted right up and worked fine.<\/p>\n<p>Knowing that everything was working as it should I went on further at the Raspberry Pi website.\u00a0 Apparently others have had the same problem and there was a video that showed exactly what my problem was.\u00a0 When you put the card in the case you put the long edge with the HDMI port in first and tip the card down away from yourself until it snaps into place.\u00a0 The problem I had was the micro usb port has a very tight opening and you have to be perfectly square or it won&#8217;t go together.\u00a0 After watching the video I tried again and it went right in.<\/p>\n<p>All in all, its a nice little computer.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve had some older\u00a0laptops with less power.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Not vintage, by any stretch of imagination, but I have been fascinated by the Raspberry Pi since they came out.
